Norway Restaurant Celebrates New Year’s Eve Every Single Day

A small coastal restaurant in northern Norway has become an unlikely tourist sensation after committing to a theme most venues only attempt once a year. For reasons still unclear, Fjord & Fireworks, a family run establishment in the town of Andenes, now celebrates New Year’s Eve every single day without fail.

According to owner Ingrid Solberg, the tradition began accidentally when a delivery mix up left them with six months’ worth of tinsel and party poppers. “We could either return it,” she explained, “or simply declare every day the biggest night of the year. We chose the second option because it sounded more fun and slightly more chaotic.”

The restaurant now hosts a nightly countdown at precisely 7.59pm, regardless of the season, weather or number of diners. At 8pm sharp, a pre recorded crowd cheer plays, confetti cannons erupt, and a member of staff in a sequinned jacket bursts onto the floor shouting “Happy New Year, again!” Some customers have admitted they did not realise it was part of the theme and believed they had been unconscious for several hours.

Despite its eccentric concept, the restaurant is thriving. Reviews mention the “relentless optimism,” the “blinding use of glitter,” and the deeply confusing atmosphere created when the sun refuses to set in summer. One local described the experience as “celebrating New Year’s Eve inside a snow globe owned by someone who has never seen a calendar.”

Not everyone is convinced. A group of frustrated residents have filed noise complaints, citing the nightly fireworks display that consists of three small fountains and a sparkler waved by Ingrid’s uncle Olaf. Authorities have so far declined to intervene, stating that the fireworks are “technically legal and extremely underwhelming.”

Tourists, however, can’t get enough of it. Many have travelled from across Europe for the chance to shout “Happy New Year” multiple times per week. One British tourist confessed she had visited seven nights in a row because “it’s nice to start the year with such low stakes.”

When asked whether the tradition will continue indefinitely, Ingrid smiled confidently. “Of course. Every day deserves a fresh start. And also, we still have eight crates of confetti left.”
