Scientists Confirm There’s Now Too Much Ant and Dec on TV

A new report by the University of British Television Studies has concluded what many Britons have suspected for years: there is officially too much Ant and Dec on television.

The study, which analysed over 10,000 hours of UK broadcasting, found that the duo appear on screen at least once every 22 minutes. Researchers noted that even when they were not physically present, audiences reported still feeling as though Ant and Dec were somehow nearby.

Lead researcher Dr. Paula Kendrick explained, “Our instruments detected trace levels of Ant and Dec in unexpected places, such as property shows, gardening programmes, and the shipping forecast. They’ve become part of the cultural atmosphere. It’s like radiation, but cheekier.”

The report suggests that the pair’s omnipresence may be the result of “entertainment overconsolidation,” a phenomenon in which two presenters slowly expand to fill every available hosting slot. Ant and Dec currently appear on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Britain’s Got Talent, Saturday Night Takeaway, and, according to some sightings, Question Time.

Critics have begun to express concern that the nation is approaching what experts are calling “AntDec Saturation Point.” Viewers in test groups who were exposed to four consecutive hours of the duo reportedly began to speak in Geordie accents and developed an uncontrollable urge to shout “Let’s get ready to rumble!” at strangers.

ITV has denied accusations of AntDec overexposure, stating, “Britain loves Ant and Dec, and there’s simply no such thing as too much of a good thing.” The broadcaster declined to comment on rumours that a 24-hour channel dedicated solely to the duo, provisionally titled Ant & Dec+, is in development.

Meanwhile, rival broadcasters have reportedly begun exploring countermeasures, including emergency Graham Norton deployment and the resurrection of Noel Edmonds.

Dr. Kendrick warned, “If trends continue, by 2030 all UK television may be hosted exclusively by Ant and Dec. They could become self-replicating, like mogwai in a drizzle.”

For now, experts recommend moderate viewing and avoiding prolonged exposure to primetime ITV.
